Whatever it was, I’m sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?

11/11/11 is not some big wish day, it’s the 93rd anniversary of the end of the Great War.

Some need to realize that this is a day of remembrance, appreciation, and gratitude for all the men and women who have fought in the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, both Persian Wars, and so many others. So, please, instead of thinking of yourself and what you want during the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, reflect on the astounding sacrifices made by these people for peace and freedoms.

In Canada, the poppy is the official symbol of remembrance worn during the two weeks before 11 November, after having been adopted in 1921. The Royal Canadian Legion suggests that poppies be worn on the left lapel, or as close to the heart as possible

I wasn’t aware that there was a daily photo post limit on tumblr … until just now. However, I’ve queued up a lot of really fantastic photographs of Canadians from the First and Second World Wars which will appear throughout the rest of the day and well into tomorrow.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is Remembrance Day. I strongly urge everyone to get out to a service if they can to pay respects to the fallen and those still serving in your country’s military (whether they be Canadian, America, British, etc.)

Have a fantastic couple of days, followers! I’m heading over to my parents’ place tonight to hang out with my younger sister, eat pizza, and watch Band of Brothers … perhaps I’ll raid their liquor cabinet. They have better booze than I do. :)
